In 2009, SLR formed a dedicated asset-based lending team focused on active coverage of the financial services industry to take advantage of funding dislocations resulting from the 2008 credit crisis.

We lend on a secured basis against the loan portfolios of mid-sized commercial and specialty finance companies. Since inception, the lender finance team has originated over $1 billion in transactions to commercial finance companies who needed access to more flexible working capital financing than banks were willing to provide.

SLR's deep experience lending on a secured basis to commercial finance companies has had an additional benefit of identifying attractive acquisition opportunities. The SLR platform has made over a half dozen acquisitions since formalizing the business vertical.
